About Maria’s Book Banter

Maria’s Book Banter is where I share my honest opinions about the books I read. I got the idea of doing a book blog while I was reading The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz, which will be the topic of my first blog post. This book mentions the concept of a book blogger. I thought to myself “I could do that”. Fast forward one week, and I'm writing the About page.

My intention for this blog is for it to be interactive. I encourage readers to leave their thoughts – positive or negative – in the comments sections. You can also e-mail me your feedback at mariabookbanter@gmail.com. I will happily accept book recommendations as well.

Which brings me to the question: What kind of books do I like? Mainly fiction, especially historical fiction. I also enjoy memoirs and biographies. Mysteries and psychological thrillers are great. So are books on Christian spirituality.

As for science fiction, fantasy, romance novels and self-help books – not so much. And please, no books with smutty language. Thank you.

Something else you should know about me is that when I say I “read” a particular book, it actually means I listened to its audio version. Listening to audiobooks is just easier for me because I have cerebral palsy, a motor disability which affects my muscle movements and coordination. And yes, I have read My Left Foot.

I hope you find Maria’s Book Banter a fun and worthwhile forum to discuss the books we love – or didn’t love so much. Please do not hesitate in letting me know what you think of it.
